Duct Area Pigeon Nets for Apartments in Chennai – Real Installation Photos

Owner-uploaded YPL installation photos, labelled by camera date; individual photos are not assigned to a specific property.

Why apartment duct areas need pigeon nets

The open duct or ventilation shaft between apartment blocks is one of the most common pigeon nesting spots in Chennai. Pigeons roost on the ledges and pipe brackets inside the shaft, and droppings, feathers and nesting material fall down to the lower floors and into kitchen and bathroom windows that open into the duct.

A duct area pigeon net closes the shaft from side to side so birds cannot enter or perch, while air and light still pass through. The photos below show real YPL Safety Nets installations across apartment duct areas, labelled by their camera dates.

Duct area safety nets: more than bird control

The same netting that keeps pigeons out also works as a duct area safety net. It stops bottles, coconut shells, tools and other falling objects from dropping down the shaft onto lower balconies or people below, and it keeps children safe where a duct opening is reachable from a corridor or staircase window.

For tall shafts we fix the net to a anchored frame or wire-rope border so the net stays tight across the full span and can be re-tensioned later if needed.

How we fit pigeon nets in apartment ducts

Every duct is different, so we follow a fixed process on each job:

• Free site visit: we measure the duct width, depth and height and check anchor points on each wall.
• Net selection: UV-stabilised HDPE pigeon net sized to the shaft, colour matched to the building where possible.
• Fixing: hooks, anchors and wire rope along each side, with the net tensioned so it does not sag.
• Check: we inspect the full span from the top and bottom floors before handover.
