Bird netting FAQ
Bird exclusion, installation planning and opening-specific quotes from YPL Safety Nets.

What is the difference between bird netting and pigeon netting?
Bird netting is a broad description for netting intended to exclude birds from an opening. Pigeon netting describes the same kind of exclusion approach selected specifically for pigeons. The names alone do not establish the material, mesh gap, strength or fixing method.
Will pigeon netting keep out every bird?
Not automatically. Smaller birds can pass through openings that exclude pigeons. Tell YPL which birds are entering and show the opening so the mesh and layout can be assessed. A pigeon-net label is not a promise of exclusion for every species.
Where can bird netting be fitted?
Bird netting can be assessed for balconies, terraces, building ducts, ledges and openings near outdoor AC equipment. The surrounding structure, access requirements and complete perimeter determine the practical layout. Do not obstruct necessary maintenance or emergency access.
How is the mesh and material selected?
Selection depends on the target birds, opening dimensions, exposure, fixing surfaces and access needs. Confirm the quoted mesh, material and fixing scope in writing. Colour and a photograph cannot establish the brand, grade or certification.
How much does YPL pigeon-net installation cost?
The owner-confirmed pigeon-net rates are ₹8–₹16 per sq.ft for material and ₹18–₹45 per sq.ft with installation, plus 5% GST. Measure opening width and height, not the apartment floor area. These are pigeon-net rates, not a quote for every bird species or special enclosure.
Does YPL supply Garware nets with a test certificate?
YPL is a Garware & Tufropes dealer and uses Garware nets with a test certificate. Ask which product is specified in your quote and request its applicable certificate. A brand name alone does not confirm suitability for every opening or purpose.
Can bird netting be used for child safety or fall protection?
Bird exclusion, child or pet safety and fall protection are different requirements. Bird netting is not automatically suitable for supporting a person or preventing a fall. Keep proper railings and supervision; never climb, sit, stand or test a net with body weight.
What if birds or an active nest are inside the opening?
Do not seal birds, chicks or active nests behind netting. Check the opening before installation and seek appropriate local wildlife advice if birds or nesting activity are present. Arrange the work so animals are not trapped; no universal legal permission is implied.
Can an AC unit still be serviced?
Discuss the required access before fitting. Plan maintenance access for AC equipment, pipes, drainage and windows without leaving uncontrolled bird-entry gaps. Keep doors, building access and required escape routes usable.
How should bird netting be maintained?
From a safe indoor position, look for damaged mesh, loose edges or opened access points. Keep the area clean without climbing outside or leaning on the net. Ask YPL to assess repairs rather than improvising external fixes.
What warranty is available?
YPL states a five-year warranty for pigeon and safety nets, with a certificate available. Confirm the applicable product, scope and warranty certificate in your written quote; this is not a promise that every net or fixing suits every use.
What should I send for a bird-netting quote?
Send the locality, opening width and height, number of open faces, safe indoor photos, target birds and any maintenance-access requirements. Call or WhatsApp +91 96000 35014. Chennai, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram enquiries use YPL’s existing offices; there is no branch at your apartment.
